CIK Best-of 2014: Message from President of CIK-FIA

2014 allowed the CIK-FIA to implement measures to simplify the running of Competitions as well as reducing costs for all parties involved. The balance of the season proves that this is the right direction and that we should continue in this direction. I place great hopes on the effective collaboration already underway with major manufacturers on the preparation for the approval of new engines in future to replace the existing KF and KF-Junior engines. The international categories need to become attractive to the largest number of Drivers in national championships across the world. This is a major issue for our sport.

Another priority for the CIK-FIA is to restore good sportsmanship during Racing. The education of young people is an important element in addition to the adoption next year of a new front spoiler attachment to discourage unsportsmanlike attitudes on the track.

In sporting terms, the season produced three impressive World Champions. In KZ an experienced driver won the title in a very logical way at Sarno, in the form of Marco Ardigo. Two very talented young people were rewarded in KF and KF-Junior at Aunay-les-Bois; Lando Norris and Enaam Ahmed. I would like to congratulate these three drivers, who reached the summit of Karting in 2014 with great sportsmanship. These World Competitions, run over one weekend, have also been very successful with a large audience of enthusiasts.

In line with the work done by the CIK-FIA, I sincerely hope that all those involved in competition karting further unite their efforts in 2015 so that our sport can grow as it deserves, despite the current economic difficulties.
