Brit KF1 drivers resist further changes to regulations

UK_KF_engine.jpgLast weekend The KF1 drivers were called into a meeting with MSA Chief Colin Hilton to discuss the current regulations used in the KF1 class and whether they should use the 2009 CIK KF1 regulations. It was decided at the first round that the 2009 KF1 Championship would stick with the 2008 KF1 regulation (albeit slightly modified – new clutch and head volume).

During the meeting the MSA Official wanted to refer the issue to the Kart Sporting Committee chaired by Rod Taylor. However most drivers and teams objected, arguing that the rules should stay as decided at the first round and not be referred to another “committee or group of people we have never heard of” as described by a team boss who was present. One team member did raise worries about not having enough engines parts from the factory to repair 2008 spec engines and that this could cause problems later on in the season.

We await any announcement
