Mini Max pole for Wharton
The Mini Max Qualifying of the 2017 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals took place in the sun at Portimao. The positions kept changing until the fastest came down to under 1’06 ». Iakov Sokolov (RUS), then James Wharton (AUS) and Jamie Day (UAE) stood out. Wharton took pole with 1’04 »720, 2 tenths ahead of Josh Pierson (USA). Day was 3rd, Sokolov 4th and Justin Arseneau (CAN) 5th. Marcus Amand (FRA) was 6th by 0.292 » and Craig Tanic (FRA) had an interesting performance in 12th position.
